The committee is responsible for recommending to Session the proper use of these funds as set out in the Trust Agreements and the investment of these funds using the prudent man rule.

As required by the Book of Order, the work of this committee is to be reviewed at least annually by a disinterested member or members of the congretation skilled in the accounting or audit function to assure the proper accounting of all assets of the church.

Long Range Planning Committee - Tom Thompson, chair

  • Visioning. To serve as the "ear to the ground" for the Session, congregation and staff, listening to identify profound external issues and trends from within and outside the church that will affect FPC and our members in years to come. Long Range Planning is positioned to characterize and describe these matters, relate them to the current FPC mission, organization and members and to share them with the Session, congregation and staff. To this end, Long Range Planning has studied numerous denominational, secular, cultural and demographic trends, solutions and publications on pertinent subjects.

  • Planning Assistance. To encourage the Session, each committee of the church and the congregation to establish concrete goals to direct the future activities and growth of the Church. Long Range Planning shall encourage them also to make in-depth, detailed and flexibly responsive plans to reach these goals. Recognizing the growing complexity and interdependence of nearly every matter relating to FPC, Long Range Planning is available as an advisory and coordinating resource to any Church entity in developing their specific plans, including physical assets, new groups, and activities.
