Our Sunday School classes and Wednesday night activities primarily use the Workshop Rotation Model. The Model teaches Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly multimedia workshops such as: Art workshop, Drama, Music, Games, Cookery and Science, Audio-Video, Puppeting, Storytelling, and Computers. The Workshop Rotation Model concentrates on the major stories of the Bible over and over again (typically 4-6 weeks per series). The Model’s philosophy recognizes that kids not only love repetition, but they need it to develop a lasting memory and understanding of content. The Model also emphasizes teacher repetition. By the second week of the rotation, the teacher is already improving the original lesson plan for the next class. No more "if I only would have...." in the parking lot after class. The Model also buries the beige and boring classroom in a blizzard of creative kid-oriented design. And most of all, the model demonstrates a viable alternative to "one size fits all" curriculum design. It is not more of the same by another name.

Currently, our Worship Rotation Area incorporates an open assembly with music, an Art workshop, Games, Storytelling, Cookery and Science, and intermittent Audio-Video workshops. By January 2005, we will have added a Computer workshop to our rotations. Within our Workshop Rotation this year, we will include curriculum series entitled: Dig into the Bible, Creation, Noah’s Ark, The Gift of Jesus, Jesus in the Temple, and many more exciting subjects and stories.

We believe that the family is the primary Christian educator of our children. Christian education must remain the task of the family supported by the church. We as a congregation promise to help in this important task. The staff, leaders, and teachers at FPC are committed to helping our families grow in their own faith journeys, which in turn, cultivates Christian education in the home.
